In Markdown, tables are drawn with symbols: columns are separated by a vertical bar |, and a line of dashes goes under the header. For a small table it's bearable, for a large one it's slow and tedious.
What a Markdown table looks like
| Name | Team |
|------|---------|
| Anna | Sales |
| John | Support |The first row is the headers, the second is a line of dashes, then come the data. If you get even one dash wrong, the table may not display.
How to make a table in Gramax

How to move a table from Excel
No need to retype a big table:
- Select the table in Excel or Google Sheets and copy it.
- Paste it into an article in Gramax.
The table builds itself, with all its rows and columns. Read more: how to move a table from Excel to Markdown.
What else tables in Gramax can do
- Merge cells — you can't do that in regular Markdown.
- Sort rows and filter values.
- Calculate totals: sum, average, count.
- Change column width and alignment with your mouse.
